Ken Murray was elected to the Board of
Trustees in May of 2004. He is currently the chairman of the Finance
Committee of which he has been a member for the past three years. In
addition, he has served on the Land & Facilities Committee, Personnel
Committee, and the Committee for Safe and Drug-Free Schools. Also,
Murray participates in subcommittees, task force and advisory groups,
and many professional training-related seminars. In 2004, he was
appointed to the Teacher Education Advisory Committee for the University
of Dallas by Dr. Cherie Clodfelter, Dean of Education for the University
of Dallas.
Murray is a lifelong resident of
Irving and a graduate of Irving High School. He is the owner of Ken
Murray’s Air Conditioning & Heating, a residential service and repair
company he founded 30 years ago with his father. Murray and his wife,
Melissa, have been married for 26 years. Their son, Kenny Murray, is a
junior at Dallas Baptist University and also graduated from Irving High.
Michelle Murray, their daughter, is a second grader in Irving ISD. The
Murrays have been involved in several community activities, including
YMCA, PTA, various booster clubs, and youth programs. Additionally, they
support Irving CARES, United Way, and other fund-raising organizations.
