Nancy
L. Jones was elected to the Irving ISD Board of Trustees in May 2008,
and was elected Secretary of the board in 2009. Her background with IISD
includes participation on campus improvement committees, parent-teacher
associations, and district committees. Ms. Jones serves on the following
Board Standing Committees: executive committee, facilities & land
committee, and curriculum, instruction & student committee (chair).
She
served on the campus improvement committees for Barton Elementary School
and Crockett Middle School, and for 17 years she has served on the
Parent-Teacher Associations for Barton, Crocket, de Zavala Middle School
and Irving High School where she served as PTA President. Ms. Jones has
also served as volunteer coordinator for the IISD Council of PTAs for
two years. In 2007, she served as secretary for the Citizens Task Force
for Bond Assessment and was a member of the Excellence Now Committee for
two years. As a member of the Board of Trustees, she serves on the
facilities & land committee and the curriculum, instruction, & student
committee.
Ms. Jones
currently works as an educational consultant and is the proud mother of
two sons, Cameron and Austin, who graduated from Irving schools. She is
originally from San Bernardino, California, and earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in business administration and marketing from California
State University at Long Beach.
In 1982,
Ms. Jones moved to Irving and earned her Master of Arts degree from
Amberton University in Garland. She is a long-time member of Evergreen
Baptist Church in Irving and enjoys reading, watching sports and
continuing her work with young people.
