Mrs.
Patrick is serving her second term on the Board of Trustees, but she is
not new to Irving ISD. Mrs. Patrick taught elementary music in IISD
schools for 16 years. She served as a volunteer in the district’s HOST
program for two years, and in 1982 she was a member of the TEA Textbook
Committee for the state. Her four children all attended IISD schools.
She
serves on the following Board Standing Committees: policy review
committee (chair), curriculum, and instruction & student committee.
She has
been involved in several civic and professional organizations including
the Irving Music Teachers Association, Irving Retired Teachers
Association, Music Teachers National Association, Irving Women of
Rotary, and the Irving Silvertones Choir. She is a life PTA member.
Mrs.
Patrick is a member of First United Methodist Church where she is a
member of the Chancel Choir.
She has
taught private piano lessons since 1960 and has served as a part-time
bilingual tutor since her retirement from IISD.
Mrs.
Patrick holds two degrees from Texas Women’s University: a bachelor’s in
music education and a master’s in church music. She has lived in Irving
since 1956. She is married to Irving City Councilman Lewis Patrick. They
have four children and seven grandchildren.
