To become a Dallas County Promise scholar, students take three easy steps:

    step 1

Complete the Dallas County Promise PATH form. Beginning September 1st, visit DallasCountyPromise.org to start the process.

    step 2

Complete the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This free application determines a student’s eligibility for need-based federal financial aid for college.

Students who are not eligible for FAFSA assistance can complete the 2024-25 Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). The priority deadline for the FAFSA/TASFA application is January 15.

Note: For the 2023-24 school year, the FAFSA and the TASFA financial aid applications opening dates are delayed due to major changes to the applications. Both applications are expected to become available for Class of 2024 seniors and families to complete in December 2023.  Visit Federal Student Aid for more information.

    step 3
