Texas PTA

In 1896- Mrs. Ella Caruthers Porter established the first Mother’s Club in Hillsboro, TX to promote “child study and betterment of the home.”
1898- Mrs. Porter attended the second National Congress of Mothers and was appointed to organize a state congress in Texas.

Irving ISD Council of PTAs

The Irving City Council of PTAs (now the IISD Council of PTAs) held its first meeting on March 24, 1954.  At the meeting, the club’s constitution and by-laws were adopted, and officers were elected and installed. President Lorene Looper 1954-56
