Each campus will set dates for judging and announcing campus

Fair entries have the chance to move on to the
District Technology Media Fair and from there on to the
state level competitions. |

Mystery Advertisement Contest Winner
Here is a big thanks to all the students that submitted entries for the
advertisement contest. We are proud to announce the winner of the
contest, Megan Ferrar, a junior at MacArthur. Stay tuned for more

Mock Election
Results
Irving ISD mock election was held on October 30 with 24,419
votes for the 2008 presidential candidates. View the results of
this election and see who the students picked as their choice for the
next president. Sample discussions questions are provide for
further thought and research. |
Speak
Up Survey
Speak Up, a national online research project facilitated by Project
Tomorrow, gives individuals the opportunity to share their viewpoints
about key educational issues. Each year, findings are summarized and
shared with national and state policy makers. Participating schools and
districts can access their data online, free-of-charge. We
value your opinions. |

Breast Cancer Awareness at Houston
Some of Houston Middle Schools faculty suited up for a
friendly game of volleyball against the 8th grade girls team and the
money made from the ticket sales went to a worthy cause.

Afterschool
Art Lab Program
This program is FREE to all Irving ISD middle
school and high school students. (You must register to attend.)
Set in the atmosphere of the Irving Arts Center, the Afterschool Art Lab
Program gives students the space, time and professional guidance (if
needed) to work on art class projects and assignments. Students
also have the opportunity to explore additional 2-D and 3-D art
projects. |

Learn Online
about Internet Safety
A
great website for students and teachers. The i‑SAFE i‑LEARN Online
program is an "On Demand" system for Internet safety education. The
first lesson is "Personal Safety" and everyone who takes part in the program MUST complete the "Personal Safety" lesson first.
All lessons are built so you will receive credit for each after you
watch it in its entirety. After the "Personal Safety" lesson you may
learn the other lessons in any order you wish... |

Need a Tutor?
The department of Parent/Student Services has posted a list of tutors that
are available for Irving students. Fees for tutoring are strictly
between the tutor and the person requesting the services.
