Fingerprinting Frequently Asked Questions
Who is required to be fingerprinted?
SB9 requires all certified educators, substitute teachers and classroom aides to be fingerprinted for the national criminal history review by the FBI.  Other school support staff hired BEFORE January 1, 2008, are subject only to a background check of state criminal records, which does not require fingerprinting.  However, support staff hired in 2008 or later will be subject to the fingerprinting requirements, as will contractors who perform work in public schools. Irving ISD will send SBEC a list of all employees.  SBEC will determine those who need fingerprinting and will then return the list and notify the District as to who will need fingerprinting. Irving ISD Disability Plan changes for 2009-2010
As a result of higher than expected claims activity on the Irving ISD Disability Plan, premiums for this policy will be increasing by 11% effective 9/1/09.  In addition to the increase in premiums, there will be some plan design changes made that will hopefully allow us to avoid future increases of this type.  Below you will find a summary of the changes that will be taking effect on 9/1/09 along with a brief summary of what the change means to you.

Reminder from Benefits Office
All premium increases and benefit changes for the new plan year start on your August paycheck (EXCEPT for Medical Spending and Dependent Care Accounts).  Health, Medi-Gap, Dental HMO and Disability Insurance all increased this year.  Also, if you moved into a new age bracket for Optional Term Life Insurance your premiums for that benefit will increase.  There is also an adjustment for Optional Term Life on this paycheck for participants as no Optional Term Life Insurance premiums got taken out of the July paychecks.
010-01-09
Error on July Paycheck Deductions
Due to a code issue with the recent Munis upgrade, employees who have the Optional Term Life Insurance did not have their deduction come out of the July paychecks.   The deduction will be doubled on the August paychecks.  This will not affect any employee’s coverage.

Insurance ID Cards
Just as an FYI, new insurance ID cards will NOT be generated for employees that are currently enrolled.  Cards only will be sent when someone is new to the plan, changes from one plan to another, or requests a new card online (or by calling customer care).  The Humana Specialty Benefits logo will be printed on the ID Card.  Members will still need to access provider search, claims information, plan information by accessing the www.mycompbenefits.com website.
