On October 7 a team of leaders from
CVS/ Caremark came to Bowie Middle School for an exciting day:
“Amazing Literacy Day” Race. A team of 50 volunteers collectively
converged on our campus with one goal in mind: To share their love
of learning and encourage reading. This lead team had individuals
from across the country come in and set up a game for our students
and brought fun and laughter along the way. There were teams of our
students and teachers assisting with the game, Who is Smarter
than a 5th Grader. The kids enjoyed the activities as well as
the generous food donations from Chick Filet. They had the
opportunity to answer questions in all educational categories and
compete to win books. Each child was issued a book of their choice
and given goody bags with numerous magazines of a variety of
genres. The event was a huge success and the children enjoyed it
tremendously. Thanks to community members willing to get involved
with our school to better our children’s futures and show that
everyone cares about educational success at Bowie.
