Letter from a Soldier
The Frontrunners 6th Grade Team collected 285 items for Troop Care
Packages. They have sent out over 60 packages in the past year. The
following is a thank you letter from one of the soldiers.

Dear Students and Teachers at Bowie Middle School,
My name is Adam Marez, I’m
stationed in Kirkuk Regional Air Base in Iraq. I’m in the Air Force (Security Forces) and
would like to thank everyone who was involved in my care
package. From the bottom of my heart I appreciate everything
ya’ll are doing for the military members in Iraq. The snacks are GREAT! I
especially enjoyed reading the letters from the students. I
found myself thinking back when I was in middle school (Greiner Middle School) and how much fun I
had during that time. So I can imagine what new and exciting
things the students are doing and into.
To answer a few questions: Yes,
the weather is extremely HOT here. Yes, at times things get
boring but we try to keep as busy as possible. Yes, we do have
ways to communicate with our family’s back home but sometimes it
can be some what difficult.
Once again thanks to everyone at Bowie Middle School. We appreciate
everything ya’ll are doing. To the students keep up the good
work and stay focused… Your friend
Adam Marez

These same 3 teams were also undefeated throughout the entire track season.
This has never happened in Irving track history. The 7th grade girls, 7th
grade boys, and 8th grade boys each won city in their grade division and in
the process they made track history. To all who ran and jumped and threw:
Hold your heads high and roar loudly because the Bowie Cubs are City Track
