Brandenburg Elementary, in conjunction with the Parents Step Ahead Mission is currently working on a project that will become the BBurg Outdoor Learning Courtyards & Garden!!
The goal of this multi-phase project is to recognize, educate, enable and empower parents and students to take a proactive role in educational and personal development.
In an effort to augment what is taught in the classroom, Brandenburg is creating multiple unused areas on campus into opportunities for student and community engagement.
The BBurg Garden phase will be developed in the back of the school and will be an ongoing garden of seasonal and nutritional plants that K-5 students will grow, maintain and enjoy. Students will be incorporating STEM related projects, conduct research and have areas for collaboration and reflection.
As part of this initiative, our school will be participating in the Carton2Garden contest. Through this contest we could have a chance to win a $5000 grand prize from Carton2Garden Spring Contest that could potentially be utilized for a greenhouse over the garden area!
Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association and participate in Jump Rope For Heart!
Over the next few weeks, we will be learning about how to take care of our hearts, spreading the message to friends and family, and helping others when we can!
The American Heart Association’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans. They will challenge our kids to start living a healthy lifestyle now to prevent problems later; and give them an opportunity to participate in a service learning project that funds the fight against heart diseases and stroke – the #1 and #5 cause of death in our country.
Any student who registers at heart.org/jump, takes the Zoo Crew Ecard challenge, and challenges 10 people by sending them the Ecard challenge, will get Rory’s Zoo Crew Badge to add to your lanyard! Click Here to watch a quick step by step tutorial on how to take the challenge.
Please join us in teaching our students the importance of being heart healthy for life! Watch this video to learn more about Jump Rope for Heart!
