Copyright Infringement

Digital Millennium Copyright Act

Irving ISD hosts its own webserver and therefore is its own web provider for district, campus and teachers webpages (these pages start with www.irvingisd.net). It is our policy to respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you feel that copyright material of yours has been used on any of the Irving ISD webpages, then this page describes the information that should be present in your written notice to the district. We wish to both address any alleged infringement of copyright as straightforwardly as possible while reducing the number of notices that are fraudulent or difficult to understand or verify.

Irving ISD Webmaster

Process of Filing Notice of Alleged Copyright Infringement

To file a notice of copyright infringement with content found on the Irving ISD website, you must provide written communication (by fax or regular mail) that specifies the following items.  (Please note that you will be liable for damages if you materially misrepresent your claim or file fraudulently.)

Please provide the following information with each claim:

 1.  Identify in sufficient detail the location of the work in question that you believe has been infringed upon (for example, "The copyrighted work at issue is the text that appears on http://www.irvingisd.net/specific_page.htm").

 2.  Provide sufficient information to specify the copyrighted work (for example, "The copyrighted work at issue is the “Touch Not This Cat” by Dudley Smith, published by Smith Publishing, ISBN #0123456789").

 3.  Provide information reasonably sufficient to permit Irving ISD to contact you (email address is preferred).

 4.  Include the following statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted materials described above as allegedly infringing is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."

 5.  Include the following statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."

7. Sign the paper.

8. Send the written communication to the following address:
