Supply List

In order to help sixth graders make the transition from a self-contained atmosphere to the middle-school and to improve the organizational skills of seventh and eighth graders, all Irving ISD middle school students are required to keep a standard notebook. Students use these notebooks in all classes to help them organize their work and report to classes with the necessary supplies. Assignment sheets, homework papers, daily work and tests are kept in these notebooks. The notebooks are to be taken home every night in order for teachers, parents and students to work closely together. Parents are asked to check their child's notebooks periodically to evaluate the progress of their child and to keep their notebook supplies up to date.

The following is a list of basic REQUIRED components of this notebook:

  • Loose-leaf notebooks (3 rings; suggested size 2 1/2" spine)
  • 2 sets of index dividers with plastic tabs (8 1/2 x 10 1/2)
  • White notebooks paper (wide ruled)
  • 1 clear plastic zipper pocket
  • 6 #2 pencils with erasers
  • 2 ballpoint pens (black or blue ink)
  • 1 red ballpoint pen
  • 2 sets of map colors (colored pencils)
  • 1 plastic ruler that includes metric measurements
The following supplemental supplies MAY also be required by some teachers:
