O’Reilly Presented with Golden Apple

Pat O’Reilly, volunteer at Townsell Elementary School, was presented with a Golden Apple Award by the IISD Board of Trustees during their regularly scheduled meeting March 7. Golden Apple Awards are the highest symbol of appreciation presented to community businesses or organizations and individual partners who have made outstanding contributions to Irving schools.

Townsell Elementary School participates in the Food 4 Kids program to provide students in need with healthy snacks on Friday afternoon so they can have food for the weekend. O’Reilly volunteers his time twice per month to pick up Townsell’s orders at the food bank in South Oak Cliff and deliver the items to the school. The items have to be picked up during the school day, which prevents school personnel from leaving campus to retrieve the items.

Fifty-one students in the Food 4 Kids program benefit from this volunteer’s willingness to take time out of his work week to contribute to the well-being of children.
