Trustees Recognized for Service

Students and staff honored Irving ISD trustees with cookie bouquets and certificates in keeping with the statewide observance of School Board Recognition Month. Students representing seven elementary schools – Brandenburg, Brown, Davis, Good, Thomas Haley, Lively and Townley – stated the duties of the Board of Trustees and thanked the board members for their service to the community.

Irving ISD trustees are: Ruben Franco, president, six years of service; Randy Stipes, vice president, six years of service; Michael Hill, secretary, four years of service; Barbara Cardwell, 19 years of service; Jerry Christian, two years of service; Ken Murray, two years of service; and Nita Patrick, two years of service.


 

Jose Marcos Abrego, fifth grade student at Brandenburg Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board President Ruben Franco in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Erika Flores, fifth grade student at Good Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board Trustee Barbara Cardwell in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Nasheha Baset, fifth grade student at Thomas Haley Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Trustee Jerry Christian in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Bree Shroeder, fifth grade student at Brown Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board Vice President Randy Stipes in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Cody Etherington, fifth grade student at Lively Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board President Ruben Franco in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January. Franco accepted the items on behalf of Trustee Ken Murray, who was out of town and unable to attend the meeting.

Remyngton Crouch, fifth grade student at Townley Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board Trustee Nita Patrick in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Moses Ogunsola, fifth grade student at Davis Elementary School, presented a bouquet and certificate to Board Secretary Michael Hill in honor of School Board Recognition Month in January.

Approved the minutes of Noon Work Session and Regular Board Meeting on December 12, 2005.

Approved Resolution #05-06-54 accepting bids for miscellaneous food items from Sunbeam Foods and LaBatt Food Service.

Approved Resolution #05-06-60 amending contract with SHW Group, Inc. for architectural services related to Stipes Bond Construction Project for additional services in the amount of $102,540.

Approved the Investment Capital Fund Cycle 15 Grant Program for Austin and Lively, with each school seeking $50,000 one-year grant initiatives to promote increased student achievement on TAKS.

Approved Resolution #05-06-61 accepting guaranteed maximum price for Austin bond construct project.

bullet

Approved Resolution #05-06-62 accepting guaranteed maximum price for Lamar bond construct project.
