Polous Honored as Teacher of the Month

Marilyn Polous, prekindergarten ESL Head Start teacher at Pierce, was honored as Teacher of the Month for January. A graduate of Convent High School in St. Joseph, Mo., she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University.

She began her teaching career in Illinois, teaching first grade and kindergarten for five years. After several years in private business, Polous returned to teaching at Britain, spending nine years there before moving on to Pierce.

Cuevas Recognized as Employee of the Month

Otilia Cuevas, food service technician at Irving High School, was recognized as Employee of the Month for January. She began her career with Irving ISD in 1996 as a food service substitute and has progressed from part-time assistant to food service technician. Cuevas is a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
