Taylor Named Outstanding Graduate

David Taylor, a 1995 graduate of MacArthur, was honored as an Outstanding Graduate. Taylor is an attorney with the law firm of Baker Botts.

After graduating from MacArthur in 1995, Taylor enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station where he made the Dean’s List and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. While at Texas A&M, he was active in numerous activities, including serving as camp counselor for two years and chairperson for one year at Fish Camp. During his first year following graduation, he was employed as an applications engineer with National Instruments Corporation.

Taylor entered Harvard Law School in September 2000. While at Harvard, he served as an editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology and Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. After graduating Cum Laude from Harvard with a Juris Doctorate degree in 2003, he accepted a position as associate attorney in the Intellectual Property Department of Baker Botts, with a focus on patent law. He returned to Baker Botts recently following a stint in Washington, D.C. as a law clerk to Federal Circuit Judge Sharon Prost on the U.S. Court of Appeals.

In the 11 years since he graduated from MacArthur, Taylor has proven himself to be a strong supporter of education, particularly in the areas of student mentorship and reading at the elementary level. While at Harvard, he participated in the Cambridge School Volunteers program, which supported the success of Cambridge public school students. Taylor also mentored and read to elementary school students during their lunch hour as part of the Everybody Wins! Power Lunch Program while serving in Washington, D.C.

Today, the D/FW Metroplex benefits from Taylor’s ongoing community involvement, which includes his active membership with the Dallas Football Officiating Association and the pro bono legal work he has performed for the South Dallas Legal Clinic.

Taylor currently resides in Plano with his wife, Rachel.
