Hardesty Honored as Teacher of the Month

Christine Hardesty, second grade dual language English teacher at Brandenburg, was honored as Teacher of the Month for November. A graduate of MacArthur, Hardesty earned a Bachelor of Education degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of North Texas. She began her teaching career with Irving ISD as a student teacher at Brandenburg in 1991and was hired as a second grade teacher at Brandenburg in 1992.

Velasquez Recognized as Employee of the Month

Candida Velasquez, building manager at John Haley, was recognized as Employee of the Month for November. She began her career with Irving ISD in 1988 as a substitute custodian and became a full-time custodian the following year. Velasquez has served as building manager for John Haley since 1995.

Approved Resolution #06-07-27 amending the Prescription Drug Plan for IISD employees under the CIGNA Medical Benefit Plan. The original plan redesign was intended to help reduce the deficit the IISD self-funded insurance program has experienced over the past several years, but it has had the unintended result of a very high cost to the employee for certain expensive prescriptions. The amendment caps the employee’s expense for each prescription filed at a threshold of $1,000 with a retroactive effective date of September 1, 2006.
