Hoffman Honored as Teacher of the Month

Linda Hoffman, music teacher at Stipes Elementary School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for March. A graduate of Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Hoffman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Hoffman began her teaching career nine years ago in Irving ISD as a music teacher at Barton and Davis elementary schools. The following year, she split her teaching time between Barton and Lively elementary schools. In her third year, she became a full-time teacher at Good Elementary School. After two years in England, Hoffman returned as music teacher at Townley Elementary School where she served five years. This school year, she moved to Stipes.

Balderas Recognized as Employee of the Month

Ralph Balderas, security patrol officer, was recognized as Employee of the Month for March. He began his career with Irving ISD in 1990 as an HVAC helper. Balderas served in this capacity until 1993 when he assumed duties as a preventative maintenance helper.

In 2000, he returned as HVAC helper until he assumed his current position as security patrol officer in 2003.

Verizon Presents Donation to Irving.Net

Irving.Net, represented by Delia Watley, accepted a check for $27,750 from Verizon Communications in support of adult ESL programs and the Irving.Net community portal.

Nickie Weaver, program director of grant services, and members of the adult ESL classes also participated in the check presentation ceremony.

Approved Resolution #06-07-84 proclaiming March as Youth Arts Month in Irving ISD.
