Board Seats New Members, Elects Officers
The IISD Board of
Trustees certified the election of three trustees, and U.S. Court of
Appeals Judge Mark Whittington administered the oath of office. Jerry
Christian and Nita Patrick were re-elected to their Place 6 and 5 seats,
respectively, while Ronda Huffstetler was elected to the Place 7 seat in
the May 12 election.
Trustees
also elected officers for the coming year. Michael Hill was elected
president, Patrick will serve as vice president, and Valerie Jones will
be secretary.

Dunn Honored as Teacher of the Month
Alisa Dunn,
prekindergarten teacher at Kinkeade Early Childhood School, was honored
as Teacher of the Month for May. A graduate of Coppell High School in
Coppell, Dunn earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the
University of North Texas. She earned her teaching certificate in 2004.
She began her
teaching career at Children’s Discovery Center in Irving where she
taught preschool for 10 years. She joined the Kinkeade staff in 2002 and
split her time in 2003 between Clifton Early Childhood School and Lee
Elementary School. She returned to Kinkeade in 2004.

Lane Recognized
as Employee of the Month
Mary Lane, campus
technician at Stipes Elementary School, was recognized as Employee of
the Month for May. She joined Irving ISD in 1987 as a part-time
cafeteria aide at Townley Elementary School. At Townley, she also held
the positions of physical education aide, library clerk, computer lab
manager, and campus technician. Lane became the campus technician at
Stipes when the school opened last fall.

employee costs. |
