Stephens Honored as Teacher of the Month

Cassy Stephens, third grade teacher at John Haley Elementary School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for November. A graduate of Hulbert High School in Hulbert, Oklahoma, Stephens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Northeastern State University.

She has taught four years at John Haley, fifth grade for one year and third grade for the past three years.

Cassy Stephens, Teacher of the Month, was congratulated by Trustee Barbara Cardwell.

Kozan Recognized as Employee of the Month

Susana Kozan, building manager at Hanes Elementary School, was recognized as Employee of the Month for November. Joining the IISD in 1999, Kozan served as a substitute custodian in the Operations Department. She was promoted to night lead the following year.

In 2001, Kozan became interim high school night lead and in 2005 she joined Nimitz as high school night lead. In August 2006, Kozan moved to Hanes.

Susana Kozan, Employee of the Month, was congratulated by Trustee Randy Stipes.

19 Schools Receive Gold Performance Acknowledgements

Nineteen IISD schools have received commendations in the annual Gold Performance Acknowledgement program sponsored by the Texas Education Agency. Schools receiving performance commendations are: Irving High School, Nimitz High School, The Academy of IISD, Austin Middle School, Crockett Middle School, de Zavala Middle School, Houston Middle School, Lamar Middle School, Travis Middle School, Brandenburg Elementary School, Brown Elementary School, Good Elementary School, John Haley Elementary School, Thomas Haley Elementary School, Hanes Elementary School, Lee Elementary School, Lively Elementary School, Stipes Elementary School, and Townsell Elementary School.

The Gold Performance Acknowledgement system recognizes schools for high performance on 14 different indicators other than those used to determine accountability ratings.

received Gold Performance commendations.

Hanes, Lee, Lively, Stipes and Townsell
received Gold Performance commendations.

	Approved Resolution #07-08-41 to amend the interlocal agreement for the Educational Purchasing Cooperative of North Texas.
	Approved University of Interscholastic League Exempt Courses for 2007-2008.
	Approved Attendance Committees for 2007-2008.
	Approved Elementary District Textbook Adoption Committee for 2007-2008.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-42 to confirm emergency repair of sanitary sewer line at Irving High and to authorize payment in the amount of $33,800.
	Approve Ordinance #07-08-02 for regulations governing the periodic appraisal of the superintendent.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-44 to amend contract with Texas General Land Office for purchase of electricity.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-45 to accept donations and gifts for November 2007.
	Discussed the schematic design for The Academy of IISD Bond Construction Project.
	Discussed schematic design revisions to High School Science Lab Bond Construction Project.
