Wright Honored as Teacher of the Month
Julie Wright, gifted and talented English teacher at de Zavala Middle
School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for December. A graduate of
MacArthur High School, Wright earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
communications with a business administration minor from Dallas Baptist
University. In 2005, Wright transferred to Irving ISD from Dallas ISD
and taught seventh grade English before transitioning to teach gifted &
talented English classes.

Riddle Recognized as Employee of the Month
Mareva Riddle, food service manager at Britain Elementary School, was
recognized as Employee of the Month for December. Riddle joined IISD in
2000 as a food service substitute and was promoted to part-time
assistant in 2001. After the completion of the food service manager
training program, she was promoted to the position of elementary food
service manager at Britain in 2004.

2007 Holiday Card Winner Recognized
Board President Michael Hill joins IISD fine arts director Dr. Alfred
Green and Houston Middle School Principal Rick Nolly in congratulating
the 2007 IISD holiday card design winner Tiffany Pham, eighth grader at
Houston, and her art teacher Lauren Samford.

Approved Resolution #07-08-64 ratifying confirmation
order for purchase of electricity from Texas General Land Office. |

donations to the district totaling $54,744. |

board member training as it pertains to state rules and guidelines. |

Discussed 2007 Phase I bond packages and selection of
architects, for a total of 16 projects ranging in costs from $40,000
to $10,000,000 and to be completed by 2010. |

Received a presentation from Bill Gumbert,
representative from RBC Capital Markets, discussing the need for a
formalized district Debt Management Guideline and/or Debt Management
Policy. |
