Wright Honored as Teacher of the Month

Julie Wright, gifted and talented English teacher at de Zavala Middle School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for December. A graduate of MacArthur High School, Wright earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a business administration minor from Dallas Baptist University. In 2005, Wright transferred to Irving ISD from Dallas ISD and taught seventh grade English before transitioning to teach gifted & talented English classes.

Teacher of the Month Julie Wright, gifted and talented English teacher at de Zavala Middle School, was congratulated by Barbara Cardwell.

Riddle Recognized as Employee of the Month

Mareva Riddle, food service manager at Britain Elementary School, was recognized as Employee of the Month for December. Riddle joined IISD in 2000 as a food service substitute and was promoted to part-time assistant in 2001. After the completion of the food service manager training program, she was promoted to the position of elementary food service manager at Britain in 2004.

Employee of the Month Mareva Riddle, food service manager at Britain Elementary School, was congratulated by Nita Patrick.

2007 Holiday Card Winner Recognized

Board President Michael Hill joins IISD fine arts director Dr. Alfred Green and Houston Middle School Principal Rick Nolly in congratulating the 2007 IISD holiday card design winner Tiffany Pham, eighth grader at Houston, and her art teacher Lauren Samford.

	Approved the minutes of Noon Work Session and Regular Board Meeting on Monday, December 3, 2007.
	Approved Financial Statement for October 2007.
	Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-07 authorizing December amendment to the 2007-2008 IISD budget.
	Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-08 accepting supplements to Irving ISD tax rolls.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-56 for phasing of 2007 bond program resulting in reallocated funding and a net funding surplus of $279,442.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-57 selecting Construction Manager-At-Risk as the method of procurement for 2007 Phase I bond projects.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-58 authorizing contract with Salesmanship Club of Dallas regarding parking for the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in exchange for monetary fee, tickets and parking passes.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-59 accepting bids for job order contracts for maintenance and repair not to exceed $75,000 annually.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-60 accepting proposal from DeepNines for Scalable Web Content Filter, cost not to exceed $39,800.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-51 authorizing Chiller Maintenance Service agreement for chiller systems at Irving, Nimitz and MacArthur high schools as well as at The Academy, managed by Region IV Education Service Center, through the Interlocal Agreement Process in the amount of $50,126.
	Approved of Resolution #07-08-61 authorizing purchase of textbook materials from Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, sole-source vendor, in the amount of $47,469.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-62 authorizing preliminary action in connection with the district’s proposed issuance of unlimited tax school building bonds, Series 2008 in the amount of $88,000,000.
	Approved revisions to Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Board Goals of IISD.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-64 ratifying confirmation order for purchase of electricity from Texas General Land Office.
	Approved first reading and filing authorization of TASB Update 81 and other local board policies BBG, DEE, FFAC, and FM.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-65 accepting gifts and donations to the district totaling $54,744.
	Reviewed a written report regarding the completion of board member training as it pertains to state rules and guidelines.
	Discussed 2007 Phase I bond packages and selection of architects, for a total of 16 projects ranging in costs from $40,000 to $10,000,000 and to be completed by 2010.
	Received a presentation from Bill Gumbert, representative from RBC Capital Markets, discussing the need for a formalized district Debt Management Guideline and/or Debt Management Policy.
