Brewer Honored as Teacher of the Month

Stephenie Brewer, fifth grade teacher at Good Elementary School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for January. After graduating in 2002 from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Brewer began her teaching career at Good.

She is an alumnae of Jenks High School in Jenks, Oklahoma, and is certified and Highly Qualified in elementary reading, elementary self-contained, and English as a second language for grades one through eight.

Hernandez Recognized as Employee of the Month

Mauricio Hernandez, building manager at Houston Middle School, was honored as Employee of the Month for January. Joining IISD in November 1992, Hernandez began his employment as a custodial substitute and attained his current position of building manager in 2001.

Since beginning his career with IISD, Hernandez has worked as night custodian and interim building manager. In his spare time, Hernandez enjoys working as a painter and taking an active role in his community.

IISD Students Honor Trustees for Board Recognition Month

Seven senior class students from the four IISD high schools presented certificates to the Board of Trustees in observance of Texas’ School Board Recognition Month. Students making presentations were: Jonathan Krabacher, Irving High; Gretchen Geltemeyer, MacArthur; Austin Christenberry, Nimitz; Margarita Aguirre, Academy; Zaira Herrera, Irving High; Vincent Jaramillo, MacArthur; and Sara Enriquez, Nimitz.

In a presentation observing School Board Appreciation Month, Board Vice President Nita Patrick is recognized by Gretchen Geltemeyer, senior at MacArthur High School, on behalf of Irving ISD.

In a presentation observing School Board Appreciation Month, Board Secretary Valerie Jones is recognized by Austin Christenberry, senior at Nimitz High School, on behalf of Irving ISD.

In a presentation observing School Board Appreciation Month, Trustee Barbara Cardwell is recognized by Margarita Aguirre, senior at The Academy, on behalf of Irving ISD.

In a presentation observing School Board Appreciation Month, Trustee Jerry Christian is recognized by Zaira Herrera, senior at Irving High School, on behalf of Irving ISD.
