Marchant Honored as Teacher of the Month

Michael Marchant, teacher at the Secondary Reassignment Center, was honored as Teacher of the Month for February. Marchant has been an integral part of Irving ISD for more than 16 years.

Formerly the lead instructor for the criminal justice program at The Academy of Irving ISD, Marchant has also taught at Irving High School and at Ratteree Center. Marchant holds a Master of Arts degree.

Pope Recognized as Employee of the Month

Wanda Pope, attendance clerk at Brandenburg Elementary School, was honored as Employee of the Month for February. Currently working as the attendance clerk at Brandenburg, Pope has been a part of IISD for nine years.

Prior to her current position, Pope served as cafeteria aide, physical education aide, office clerk, special needs aide, and clinic assistant. She has also been involved in the Brandenburg PTA, receiving a national PTA life award in 2004.

In other business, Trustees:

	Approved minutes of noon work session and regular board meeting on Monday, February 4, 2008.
	Approved financial statements for November and December 2007.
	Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-12 authorizing February amendment to the 2007-2008 Budget, increasing district budgeted revenue to $268,778,085 and appropriations to $273,165,472.
	Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-13 authorizing supplements to Irving ISD tax rolls.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-94 accepting bid from Western Paper for Print Shop materials.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-95 accepting bids for high school football equipment budgeted at $21,900 per school for a total of $65,700.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-96 accepting proposal for foreign language labs at four district schools at a total cost of $88,000 with service to be provided by Educational Media, LLC.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-97 extending the current agreement with James W. Deatherage & Assoc., P.C., for district professional legal services to June 30, 2010.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-98 authorizing Joint Election Agreement between Irving ISD and other political subdivisions for administration of election by Dallas County Elections Department to be held May 10, 2008.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-99 proclaiming March 10-14, 2008, as Texas Public Schools Week in the Irving Independent School District.
	Approved Resolution #07-08-100 accepting proposals for monochrome printers from Dell and color printers from Konica, with a cost not to exceed $781,124 and paid from 2001 technology bond funds.
	Approved Order #07-08-03 for an election of the qualified voters of the Irving Independent School District on May 10, 2008, for the purpose of electing two trustees to the IISD Board of Trustees.
	Continued discussion of development of the 2008-2009 school calendar.
	Discussed three-year transformation plan for Union Bower Center for Learning (UBCL) based on recommendations previously reported to the board in 2006 and 2007.
