Moore Honored as Teacher of the Month
Olayinka Moore, prekindergarten bilingual teacher at Clifton Early
Childhood School, was honored as Teacher of the Month for March. A
Nigerian native, Moore has been a part of Irving ISD for two years.
She
completed coursework at Southern Methodist University, and a summer in
Mexico in 2007 in order to become a bilingual Spanish teacher. She also
serves as a science team leader at Clifton. Moore is a member of Irving
Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) and North Texas
Council for Family Relations.
She
is also very active in various ministry groups in her church.

Garcia Recognized as Employee of the Month
Norma Garcia, food service technician at Nimitz High School, was
recognized as Employee of the Month for March. Garcia joined IISD in
1999 as a food service substitute, working as a four-hour assistant
until transferring to her current position in 2004.
A
parent of children who attend Irving schools, Garcia is also very active
in her neighborhood activities.

reflecting total revenues of $128,103,127, or 59.4% of the operating
budget, and total expenditures of $83, 090,749, or 37.9% of the

Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-14 authorizing
supplements to Irving ISD tax rolls. |
|
Approved Resolution & Order #07-08-15 authorizing
modifications to the district’s 2007-2008 paraprofessional salary
schedules and providing for other matters related to
paraprofessional salaries. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-106 authorizing the form
of employment contracts for certain employment positions with
changes including criminal history checks, annualized salary
statement and rehire/retire addendum. |

Approved elementary mathematics textbook adoption
selection, en Vision Math Texas by Pearson Education, Inc.,
for use in 2008 and beyond. |
|
Approved the Smaller Learning Communities grant
requesting $4,319,329 for a 60 month period to be used by IISD high
schools. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-107 authorizing an energy
savings performance contract with Oncor Electric Delivery and
CLEAResult Consulting, Inc., to identify new measures of energy
efficiency and energy consumption reduction. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-108 authorizing a
professional services agreement with Drew Consulting Services, Inc.,
for asbestos abatement consulting services. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-109 accepting proposal and
awarding contract for partial roof replacement at Britain Elementary
School through interlocal agreement with Castro Roofing of Texas,
LP, in the amount of $44,489. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-110 awarding contract to
LCA Environmental, Inc., for phase one environmental site assessment
of 10 properties located near Union Bower Center for Learning as a
prerequisite to the final purchase of property. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-111 authorizing purchase
of six IISD vehicles on state contract through the interlocal
agreement with Texas Procurement and Support Services at a total
cost of $95,518.47. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-112 authorizing purchase
of sousaphones for Irving High School through an interlocal
agreement with Williamson Music Company for a total cost of $35,960. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-113 authorizing purchase
of music furniture for Nimitz High School through an interlocal
agreement with Winger Corporation through the Cooperative Purchasing
Network for a total cost of $43,247. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-114 authorizing the
leasing of copying/duplicating equipment for IISD print shop
upgrades through an interlocal agreement for a total cost of
$9,729.50 per month. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-115 proclaiming March as
Youth Arts Month in the Irving Independent School District. |
|
Approved Resolution #07-08-116 authorizing the IISD
plan for the District Awards for Teacher Excellence grant to be
implemented during the 2008-2009 school year. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-117 authorizing second
amendment to ground lease agreement and first amendment to use and
rental agreement between Dallas County Community College District
and the Irving ISD, providing for construction of and improvements
to IISD facilities located on DCCCD property. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-118 amending contract with
Charter Builders, Ltd., for 2007 Bond Program – Package “A”. |

Approved Resolution #07-08-119 accepting gifts and
donations to the district for March 2008. |
