Academy HOSA Results from Area Conference

Senior HOSA Chapter brought home the gold medal in Outstanding HOSA Chapter. The Senior Chapter will be advancing to State Leadership Conference held in Galveston, April 12-14. Members representing the Senior HOSA Chapter include Sarah Valente, Sara Fowler, Kara Burcham, Angeleen Mathew and Sahar Hashan.

The Senior Parliamentary Procedure team consisting of Rema Almasri, Kevin Tran, Fatima Torres, Aaron Morgan, Michael Janiszewski, Maha Yousef and Susie Almasri received a gold medal for first place.

In Prepared Speaking, senior student Sneha Kuruvila placed second receiving a silver medal. Freshman Farhan Sahawneh took third place with a bronze medal also in Prepared Speaking.

Senior Neel Gandhi received a silver medal in Job Seeking Skills while senior Huong Nguyen will represent The Academy in the Pharmacology Knowledge Test.

Six students qualified for State with their scores on the Kaiser Healthcare Issues Exam. They are seniors Michael Janiszewski, Fatima Torres, and Jozabad Hernandez, along with juniors Nathan Lorich, Reena Patel and Hien Nguyen. 

Additionally, senior Cerin Daniel placed fourth in Extemporaneous Writing and junior Devanshi Somaya placed fourth in Dental Spelling. The junior team of Reena Patel and Waziha Samin placed fourth in Career Health Display.

The junior Community Awareness team consisting of Alyssa Elmer and Nasaysha Adams brought home the gold medal for their presentation on Cardiovascular Health Across the Continuum. The freshman team of Sara Hill, Johnson Ho and Vy Nguyen received the bronze medal for their presentation on The Importance of Blood Donations.

David Rabanales, also a junior, brought home the gold medal for First Aid/Rescue Breathing while Yasmina Debbab, another junior, advanced in Medical Spelling receiving a bronze medal.

In the category of Interviewing Skills, freshman Ines Garcia placed second, taking home a bronze medal. Sherin Moozhayil, a sophomore, will be advancing to state in Dental Terminology.
