Five Schools
Earn Recognized Ratings
In
the latest ratings released through the state’s Academic Excellence
Indicator System, five Irving ISD schools earned Recognized ratings.
They are Gilbert Elementary School, Good Elementary School, Hanes
Elementary School, Austin Middle School, and Lamar Middle School.
Five Recognized schools is an improvement over last year, when four IISD
schools received the Recognized rating. Improvement in scores on the
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) is a major reason for
the overall improvement.
Overall, Irving ISD received a rating of Academically Acceptable, as did
all other regular IISD schools. Union Bower Center for Learning – the
district’s alternative campus for students at risk of dropping out of
school – received a rating of AEA (Alternative Education
Accountability): Academically Unacceptable due to Hispanic and
Economically Disadvantaged student performance on TAKS and the dropout
rate for white students.
