IISD Unveils
Redesigned Website
Irving
ISD Webmaster Bob Harmon, working with the Public Information
Department, has redesigned the district website with the goal of
increasing its overall appeal.
The new design incorporates the district logo as well as a series of
rotating Flash photo images that illustrate the personality of Irving
ISD.
Harmon also improved navigation with drop-down menus that appear under
the red buttons representing the main sections of the website. In
addition, the website features a Spanish section containing essential
news and information related to IISD. Explore the website at

Community
Partnerships Help Irving ISD Students
It
has been a summer of giving, with Irving ISD students and their families
as the beneficiaries, through initiatives spearheaded by local citizens,
businesses and IISD Partnerships in Education.
More than 300 boxes of school supplies were delivered to all IISD
schools as the result of the third annual Mayor & Firefighters Supplies
for Success drive. The supplies were distributed by the schools to
families of low-income students who could not afford to purchase
supplies to start the school year.
|

Fluor employees
assembled backpacks last week
for distribution at Hanes Elementary School. |
Individuals and groups playing a major role in the successful drive
include Irving Mayor Herbert Gears, the Irving Fire Department, event
founder Denise Demonbreun, Washington Mutual (which collected nearly
8,000 items for the drive), Irving Teen Court, Koy Lewis, Pam Hastings,
and Jennifer Hyden.
Irving
ISD thanks everyone who made their contribution to make a difference in
the education of our students, said Thelma Cantu, coordinator of
Partnerships in Education.
In
another example of effective partnerships, employees at Las
Colinas-based Fluor Corporation assembled 200 backpacks filled with
school supplies last week for students at Hanes Elementary School.
Another district partner, Nokia, donated 200 new backpacks.
