Elliott Kicks Off
Literature on the Lawn
Elliott Elementary
School recently kicked off a reading program called Literature on the
Lawn. Each month, a book is selected for third, fourth and fifth
graders to read if they choose.
On the last week of the
month, students and staff members meet in the courtyard during lunch to
share their feelings, thoughts and personal connections about what they
read. Students and teachers enjoy the sunny days on picnic blankets
while having lively discussions about great books.
September's book picks
were Tomas & the Library Lady by Pat Mora, Shiloh by
Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, and There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom
by Louis Sachar. Two of the books were available in both English and
Spanish.
