The facilities services
department of the Irving ISD (consisting of the Facilities Department
and the Security and Operations Department) provides the greatest possible support to educators,
students, and the community within the District. The Irving Independent
School District, encompassing 45.7 square miles, provides educational
services to approximately 32,836 students. The District consists of 44
permanent facilities and 100 single-classroom portable buildings
totaling 4,422,026 square feet. All facilities lie on 559.32 acres of
District property.
The facilities services department
serves as the District's largest support service organization in terms
of personnel and budget. The facilities services department consists of
297 full-time employees, with a total operating budget of $19,331,196.
The department maintains all facilities in terms of maintenance and
repair, grounds
care, custodial services, energy management, security services,
transportation, construction, and warehousing.
