W. and Margie Stipes Elementary School
Stipes
Elementary School is Irving ISD’s twentieth
elementary school. The school is
scheduled to be open for the first day of classes in August of 2006.
The architectural firm leading the project is SHW Group and the
construction company responsible for completing the project is Charter Builders,
Ltd. The project is running
slightly ahead of schedule as we begin to work on the interior finishes. |

MacArthur High
School
Gymnasium Reconstruction
The construction of
the
new gym at MacArthur High School
continues to move along at a steady pace and is expected to be complete by the
middle of March, 2006. The
architectural firm leading the project is Pow
ell / PSP and the construction company responsible for completing the project is
Charter Builders, Ltd. The project
is running on schedule as we begin to complete the exterior work and continue
progress on the interior finishes. |

Travis Middle School
Addition
and Renovation
The renovation of Travis Middle School
was completed in the Fall of 2005.
The architectural firm leading the project was SHW Group and the
construction company responsible for completing the project is Charter Builders,
Ltd. The project was completed on
schedule and in time for the staff and students to return for the first day of
classes. The main portion of the
project revolved around the addition of a fine arts wing to provide a new home
for the choir and orchestra programs. Among
the renovations was the restoration of the schools gymnasium.
The restoration included new restrooms, HVAC, bleachers, backboards and
the restoration of the gymnasiums original wood floor.

Keyes
Elementary School Renovation
The renovation of Keyes Elementary School was completed in the Fall of
2005. The architectural firm leading the project was Powell / PSP and the
construction company responsible for completing the project is Charter Builders,
Ltd. The project was completed on schedule and in time for the staff and
students to return for the first day of classes. Among the renovations was
the insatllatio of a new wheel chair accessible playground. Keyes
Elementary is one of two elementary schools in Irving that
attend to the needs of students with significant disabilities.
The project also included the installation of a fire sprinkler system,
replacement of the fire alarm and public address systems and the renovation of
restrooms and the office area.

Hanes Elementary School
Renovation
The renovation of Hanes Elementary School
was completed in the Fall of 2005.

Elliott
Elementary School Renovation
Renovation of the library included adding walls to enclose the library,
replacing the carpet and giving the walls a fresh coat of paint.

Houston Middle School
Renovation
The renovation of Houston Middle School
was completed in the Fall of 2005.
The architectural firm leading the project was SHW Group and the
construction company responsible for completing the project is Charter Builders,
Ltd. The project was completed on
schedule and in time for the staff and students to return for the first day of
classes. The project included the
installation of a fire sprinkler system, replacement of the fire alarm and
public address systems and the renovation of restrooms, the band hall, the
gymnasiums and some modifications to the reception area.
The renovation of the school’s gymnasium included restroom renovations,
the installation of new bleachers and the restoration of the gymnasiums original
wood floor.
