New for the 2008-2009 school
year, Elliott, Davis, Farine and Townley elementary schools become
the latest to provide the “Breakfast in the Classroom” program to
their students. Under this wonderful program, all students eat
breakfast at no charge – regardless of their economic status (based
on free/reduced meal applications). Food Service employees, as well
as volunteers, deliver breakfasts to each classroom before the start
of the school day. Upon arriving at their respective classrooms,
students enjoy healthy, delicious breakfasts.
Elliott, Davis, Farine, and
Townley join twelve other IISD elementary schools that already
operate the “Breakfast in the Classroom” program. All three Earl
Childhood schools have the “Breakfast in the Classroom” program, as
well.
Barton elementary this year will
operate the Universal Breakfast program. Through this program, all
students eat breakfast at no charge, but students have to report to
the cafeteria (as they did last year) for their breakfasts. Barton
joins three other elementary schools (Brown, Hanes, and Stipes) that
provide this program to their students.
In short, students in all IISD
elementary schools now have the opportunity to eat healthy school
breakfasts at no charge! What better way to start a beautiful
morning than with a “no charge” breakfast?
We in Food Service are happy to
welcome Elliott, Davis, Farine, Townley, and Barton as the latest
schools to provide these beneficial meal programs to their students.
