New Dish Machines Cut Water Usage by 50%!

Seven new dish washing machines recently purchased by the IISD Food Service Department feature numerous environmentally friendly features.  First, thanks to an advanced nozzle design, rinse water consumption is reduced by more than 50%, compared to traditional models.  Second, the advanced design saves energy from the primary and booster heaters (the two sources of hot water in a dish washing machine), which reduces overall operating expenses.  Finally, the larger droplets of rinse water produced by the new dish washing machine slightly increase overall rinsing ability, which adds to overall efficiency.  A recent analysis suggests that these dish machines may produce annual overall operating costs savings of nearly 50%, compared with dish machines utilizing previous-generation technology.

These new, environmentally-friendly, dish washing machines are currently installed in more than 20% of Irving ISD schools.  The Food Service Department aims to gradually replace all “old technology” dish washing machines with these more efficient and effective machines.

In this era of heightened concern over the environment, and of increased concern over high utility costs, we must all work to reduce waste, and unnecessary consumption, of precious natural resources.  The IISD Food Service Department is pleased to be doing its part by using the latest versions of efficient kitchen equipment.
