On Monday, March 31, Stipes will
begin the Universal Breakfast program, under which all students eat
breakfast for FREE!!! Students at Stipes will still report to the
cafeteria for breakfast and will still go through the cafeteria
lines, but they will receive their breakfasts at no charge,
regardless of their meal status (i.e. free, reduced-price, or
paid). Stipes becomes the fifth elementary school this school year
to adopt the Universal Breakfast program. Principal Marty French
and her outstanding staff decided to offer this breakfast program
for the benefit of their students. The Food Service Department is
proud to partner with Stipes Elementary School to make breakfast
more accessible than ever before for their students.
Numerous studies indicate and
document the many benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. These
include, but are not limited to, fewer stomach and head aches among
students (resulting in fewer morning trips to school nurses), better
overall behavior among students, better overall academic
achievement, fewer tardies, etc. In short, when students start
their day with healthy breakfasts, they tend to have better days
overall.
