Britain, Brown to Test New Lunch Menu It’s no April Fools Joke, but starting April 1, 2008, both Britain and Brown elementary schools will be testing a new lunch menu. The new lunch menu is an innovative “Grab n Go” lunch, similar in concept to the popular Lunchables found in grocery stores. The “Grab n Go” lunches at these two schools, however, offer a larger variety of foods than the traditional Lunchables, are nutritionally balanced and healthy meals, and are available at a much lower price than Lunchables! “Grab n Go” lunches will be offered on the regular lunch line, along with the traditional hot lunch. For the duration of the test, the cafeterias at these two schools will offer only one hot lunch item instead of the regular two hot entrees. Thus, students will get to choose between the “Grab n Go” lunch and a hot lunch each day. Both the ”Grab n Go” and hot lunches are a on 3-week menu cycle, meaning that the menus repeat every three weeks. This test will run until the end of the school year. If the test is deemed successful by both food service and campus administrators, the “Grab n Go” lunch menu may be added as a permanent menu addition in 2008-2009.
