Did you know…..

That your school cafeteria is one of the few places where you can find food in the correct portion sizes according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans?

That your school cafeteria’s menus have been analyzed for nutritional content through the USDA’s School Meals Initiative (SMI)?

That students who eat breakfast have fewer absences, disciplinary problems, and trips to the school nurse?  They also have better overall academic performance!

That your school cafeteria’s meals meet the government’s recommendation of no more than 30% of calories from fat, with less than 10% of those calories being from saturated fat?

That your school cafeteria serves many low or non-fat milks, cheeses, gravies, meats, breads, and other foods?  According to the American Dietetic Association, all foods can fit into a healthy diet when eaten in moderation.
