Vision Statement

The IISD Food Service Department shall be the premier provider to students and other customers of nutritionally-complete, low-cost, delicious meals.

Mission Statement

The IISD Food Service Department, in partnership with the district and the greater school community, resolves to meet the nutritional and health needs of students, both through the provision of healthy, low-cost meals and through the provision of nutrition education.

Goals Statement

Our three-part goals statement is as follows: 
to support education, 
to provide good nutrition, and 
to deliver consistently excellent service.

In order to accomplish our goals, we will undertake the following:

a)   Put children first, by continuing to build partnerships and relationships with other district departments, schools, and divisions, to pool our combined resources for the betterment of our students and of our district as a whole

b)   Increase the health of our school meals, ala carte products, and beverages at all levels, while maintaining our status as a low-cost leader in meal prices

c)   Leverage technology in all areas of operations, including but not limited to food service software, new equipment, the concept of the “digital” kitchen, food safety initiatives, etc., to realize maximum efficiencies

d)   Invest in our employees and in our facilities/equipment, to provide for the most efficient and effective service possible, while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in service, food quality and safety, and outstanding dining and educational experiences, for our many customers and students

e)   Continue moving towards making the cafeteria/kitchen become a learning area of the school environment, whereby students can apply their classroom instruction in making healthy meal choices for breakfast, lunch, etc.
