October’s Product of the Month:
Red Baron 7” Solo Pizza

Our October “Product of the Month” column will take a look at one of our more popular entrees at the secondary schools.  All IISD Secondary school cafeterias feature an “Express Line” concept, which typically offers foods that mimic restaurant-style foods, yet with a better health and nutrition content.  Our Red Baron 7” Solo Pepperoni Pizza, served exclusively at the Express Lines, certainly meets that profile.  As the table below illustrates, there’s a world of difference between our pizza and a very similar pizza served in a popular restaurant chain.

Thus, as the table above illustrates, the Red Baron pan-style pizza served in secondary schools has 115 fewer calories, 95 fewer calories from fat, 1/3 fewer total fat grams, almost half the saturated fat grams and cholesterol, and less than half the sugar, as compared to a Pizza Hut 6” Personal Pan Pizza.

The moral is: if you are going to eat an individual “pan-style” pizza, the pizza served in school is far healthier than its competition served outside of school.

October is National Pizza Month, so if you get a craving for pizza, why not try a healthier version of restaurant-style pizza from your friendly secondary school cafeteria?   Remember, the Red Baron brand stands for delicious taste and better health!  Treat yourself today!
