holds 2007 perpetual giving tree ceremony
The Irving Schools Foundation (ISF) held its 2007 perpetual giving tree ceremony May 30 to honor the 21 Fellows and dedicate the newly endowed Lauralee Hubbard Memorial Scholarship as their names were inscribed on the Perpetual Giving Tree sculpture at the Irving Independent School District Administration Building.
Nissan North American was thanked by Diana Pfaff, president of the Irving Schools Foundation for their title sponsorship of the Breakfast with the Stars event in April. This was Nissan’s third year as title sponsor of the event. Audrey Achilles of MacArthur High School and recipient of one of the Nissan North American Scholarships said, “The global vision of Nissan is captured in three simple words: “Enriching people’s lives”. Nissan’s support for Irving ISD students and for me personally provides a powerful example for all of us about investing in our community.” Audrey will graduate this weekend and attend Texas A&M University this fall.
Eighteen fellows attended the event. Joy Apple, Debbie Burden, Connie Dunn, the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Dallas Las Colinas, Ruben Franco, Marty French, Maura Gast, Judy and Roger Hill, Dr. Cheryl Jennings, Helma Mazon, John Mazon, Nita Patrick, Wayne Pfaff, Almarie and J.W. Schepf, Patty and Charles Schmidt, Barbara and Brock Scott, Dr. Jason Watkins and Carolyn Wilson were presented with their inscribed copper leaves. Sharon Isringhaus, Carla Smith and Thora Starke were unable to attend the event.
The Lauralee Hubbard Scholarship was awarded for the first time in April at the Breakfast with the Stars scholarship event to Sarah Rahm of Irving High School. This scholarship is named in memory of Irving Mayor Herb Gear’s mother who passed away in 2006. Mayor Gears was presented with an inscribed wooden apple plaque.
Over 100 attendees enjoyed a luncheon reception made possible by Aspen Catering and donations from Wal-Mart and Irving School Foundation Board members. |
