At the Irving Schools Foundation, it's our goal to enrich the lives of
students and teachers. As we reflect on 2009,  we are grateful for our supporters.

In this declining economic climate, so many of you have recognized the importance of giving to our Foundation - our mission doesn't stop during a recession. You see our students graduating from high school and living out their dreams, you hear about the teachers receiving funds to further educate and mold the minds of our children.....
all because of you and your generosity.

We remember one Irving graduate who lived his dream  to serve our great country.

Spc. Josiah H. Vandertulip

Spc. Josiah H. Vandertulip, a 21 year old Irving hero was killed in October of 2004, while serving in Iraq when his patrol came under small arms fire. He was a part of the 1st Calvary Division stationed at Fort Hood near Killeen. Josiah is survived by four brothers and sisters, and his parents, Robert and Louise, living here in Irving. Josiah had often said that by going to war, he knew someone else with a young family could be saved from serving, relatives said. He always had the important things right, his mother Louise has said. "There's a lot of rest in knowing that he died doing what he believed in and doing what he thought was right."

Spc. Josiah Vandertulip lived 21 inspirational years. A life cut too short. The Irving Schools Foundation asks you to support our mission and help us continue to provide funds for grants to teachers and scholarships to students, so that other IISD students can graduate from high school and move onto fulfilling their dreams. Support us today by making a contribution and remembering IISD graduate, Spc. Josiah Vandertulip.

Twenty-one ($21) dollars, the number of short years
Spc. Vandertulip lived will help us make a difference
in the lives of thousands of students here in the Irving Independent School District.
