Dear Irving Schools Foundation,

I plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Human Biology and then study to become a surgeon.  I was always taught each kind act should be repaid through another. And so with this scholarship as a promise, I promise to never stop working to help others, not only as a doctor, but as a kind person. There are so many ways I can say I am grateful to you all.

Sincerely,
Quang-Thuy Hoang

Establishing a Scholarship

Endowed Scholarships | Limited Term and One Time Scholarships

Endowed Scholarships:
An endowed scholarship is a wonderful way to establish a legacy. You determine the name of the endowed scholarship and you help set the criteria for selecting a deserving student to receive the award. The interest earned from your endowed scholarship fund is awarded each year in the form of a scholarship. The principal amount is never spent, thus ensuring the perpetuity of the scholarship and the legacy of giving for a lifetime.

The scholarships are awarded annually at the Breakfast With The Stars event held each spring. You will be seated with the recipient and their family at the breakfast.

The minimum amount required to establish an endowed scholarship is $20,000 which may be paid in a lump sum or over a specific time period scheduled with the Executive Director.

In 2009 two new scholarships were endowed:

(4) Jack Singley Scholarships ($1,000 each)

Established in 2008 in honor of Mr. Jack Singley’s 44 years of service to IISD and is awarded to a graduating senior who has exhibited outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular activities and community service.

Barbara Cardwell Future of Education Scholarship ($1,000 each)

Funded in 2009 by friends and family of Barbara Cardwell as a tribute to her many years of service to the IISD.  It is awarded to a graduating senior who is in the top 20% of his/her class and has a record of community service and the intent to continue community service while in college and intends to major in education in order to become an educator in the public schools.

Please contact the Irving Schools Foundation for information on endowing a scholarship and making a difference to a child.

Limited Term and One Time Scholarships:
A limited term and one time scholarship may be established at a minimum level of $1,000.

Dear Irving Schools Foundation,

Endowing me with this scholarship is even more special because Josiah dedicated his life to protecting the liberties of Americans, a freedom that most of us take for granted.  I am very grateful to be blessed as an American.  Serving one’s country is a duty should be instilled in every American, and I hope to contribute my life to serving the community in a professional, moral and dignified manner for the betterment of humanity.  I plan to attend the University of Texas at Arlington and major in Biology and then plan to attend medical school in Texas.  With your generous contribution, I am able to fulfill my academic dreams, which is to become a successful surgeon.

Sincerely,
Paul Nguyen
