Like many of the students and families we serve at Good, I was born and raised outside of the United States. I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I went to the Colegio Espíritu Santo from first grade through twelfth grade, where the primary language of instruction was Spanish. English was another subject, just like math and science. I left Puerto Rico in 1990 to attend Penn State University in the United States. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and my Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Penn State. After I earned my Bachelor’s degree, I returned to Puerto Rico, where I taught kindergarten at a small private school. I later returned to Penn State to complete my graduate studies. In 1997, Carlos, my husband, and I decided to move to Texas. It was then that I came to Good for the first time. I was a bilingual second and third grade teacher. In 2001, I became a district mathematics coordinator for the MacArthur Cluster. After working with other campuses for a year, I had the opportunity to return to Good as an assistant principal. Although I had a great job and enjoyed it fully, I resigned in 2003 after the premature birth of my daughter, Carolina Isabel. Carolina is now a healthy young girl who can’t wait to go to school. After spending a year and a half as a full time mother, it was time to come back to Good. I was lucky to have the opportunity to return to Good as an assistant principal in 2005. I have enjoyed every day of my job ever since I came to Good in 1997. The students at John R. Good captivated my heart back in 1997. My dream has always been to be a school principal. After coming to Good in 1997, my dream was to be principal at John R. Good. I am honored and grateful to have the opportunity to serve as principal of a school such as Good, where every staff member believes all children can learn! As principal, I assure every child and parent that the faculty and staff will continue to work diligently to ensure the success of every child that walks through our doors. Teachers, support staff and administrators will continue to work together to provide each and every child the education they need to succeed in the 21st century. I invite all parents to become an active member of our learning community. Your involvement in your child’s education is crucial to his/her success. I am looking forward to continuing my work with the students and families of John R. Good. I know we will have a great school year!

Welcome to John R. Good Elementary! Although I am one of the newest members of the Good family, I must say that I already feel like I am "at home" here. I genuinely extend that same warm welcome to all teachers, students, parents, and community members. My experience has been in Title I schools with diverse student populations, much like the diversity at Good. The 2009-2010 school year marks my 10th year as an educator within Irving ISD; I have served as a first grade bilingual teacher, 5th bilingual teacher and an administrator. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Education in Educational Administration, from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Az. With a focus on differentiated instruction, we work to ensure that the educational needs of every child are met so that every child can be successful. I am confident that the rich diversity at John R. Good will foster multicultural appreciation that will also prepare our students for a global economy. I truly believe that parents are their child's first and most important teacher. Working together, we can make this a successful year, both academically and socially. Feel free to contact me with concerns, questions, or suggestions.
