Nomination

• All kindergarten students are automatically nominated for the Gifted and Talented Program within Language Arts and Mathematics.

• All kindergarten students enter the screening phase during the fall semester of each year.

• Student nominations at other grade levels are solicited by the school counselor from a variety of sources:

  • Parents
  • Legal guardians
  • Community members
  • Peers
  • Self
  • Teachers

• Entrance into the screening phase for ALL OTHER student nominees requires that the student demonstrate above-average performance in at least TWO of the following FIVE areas:

  • Previous enrollment in a gifted and talented program with another district
  • Parent checklist
  • Teacher checklist
  • Self evaluation of interests
  • Grades that demonstrate the nominee is within the top 10% of his/her class within his/her area of giftedness (i.e., language arts, mathematics, science, social science).
