The Screening Process

During the screening process, the GT Campus Screening/Selection Committee collects criteria in a variety of ways:

• All kindergarten students participate in portfolio lessons during the Fall semester. In addition, as needed, kindergarten students are administered an aptitude and achievement examination during the Fall semester of each year.
• In the elementary grades, achievement test scores are derived from national norm-referenced tests. Based on need, each campus administers an aptitude test or portfolio assessment to individual student  nominees.

The District establishes criteria for work within the individual student nominee's portfolio.  A portfolio assessment may be administered to elementary students IF the Campus Screening/Selection committee determines that this item is needed to complete the screening review of that student nominee.
