Student Nominations
Accepting Nominations for the Irving ICE Awards
The committee is asking
that every campus submit at least one nomination for the ICE Awards
Program. Campuses may submit multiple nominations if desired. Awards
will be in the form of crystal trophies and cash for campuses and
certificates for individuals. The deadline for nominations is
Friday,
October 26, 2007.
You are encouraged to
designate an administrator on your campus to coordinate the nomination
process by making sure that all staff members including department chairs,
grade level chairs, and/or extracurricular and co-curricular teachers are
informed about the program and have an opportunity for input in the
nomination process. A copy of the nomination form is attached and is also
available on the District’s website. All nominations submitted must be
signed by the principal of the campus.
The ICE Awards will be
made by instructional level (elementary, middle school, and high school).
The six categories for the awards are listed below.
-
Humanities (English/Language Arts,
Reading and Social Studies)
-
Math/Science
-
Fine Arts
-
Athletics/Physical Education
-
Community Service/Citizenship
-
Special Campus/District
(Programs/events that do not fit in any other category)
We are asking
coordinators to please emphasize to those submitting nominations to
provide detailed information with the nomination form. The members of the
Excellence Now Committee are not educators and, therefore, need and want
as much information as possible to help them understand the significance
of the event.
The ICE Awards Program
has been very successful for the last four years as a result of your
support. We are looking forward to an even better program this year and
welcome your comments and suggestions toward that end.
Remember, each campus
is encouraged to submit at least one nomination to Dr. Neil Dugger no
later than Friday, October 26, 2007. Please call if you have
questions.
