Choir Fall Cluster Concert - Thurs Nov. 12

Irving High Choirs and Austin, Crockett, DeZavala Middle School Choirs will perform their Fall Cluster Concert this Thursday, November 12th at 7:00pm in the IHS Auditorium.

Enjoy great singing! All styles of choral repertoire will be featured.

Swimming Team Performs at Competition

Congratulations to Ms. Tabitha Burrus, our Swimming Coach and to our Swimming Team! They performed very well at the recent Hebron Invitational Swimming Meet and outscored MacArthur for the first time in four years. Go Tigers! Keep up the good work.

IHS Choir Now Auditioning for Spring Musical

The IHS Choir will perform "South Pacific" by Richard Rogers/ Oscar Hammerstein for their Spring 2010 musical. This great musical play is based on James Michners's "Tales of The South Pacific" set on two islands during WW2. Characters include sailors, marines, and military nurses stationed on one of the islands. Just what does the island of Bali Hai' have to do with the story?

Performance Dates: January 28-30th, 2010. All students are invited to audition/participate; orchestra/band students/staff provide the music, theatre provides the set/direction, and staff also works with all students/teachers on this project.

Audition Dates: Wednesday - Nov. 11 - 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - Choir Room C 141
Friday - Nov. 13 - 4:00 p.m. - 6 p.m. in Choir Room C 141

ROTC Participates in Competition

The JROTC recently went to Lewisville to compete with other area schools and received third place out of all schools. Other awards received included third place team in Armed Drill Regulation, second place in Male Color Guard, third place individual male pushups by David Truong, and first place Shooter Kneeling Precision by Stephen Pickett. Congratulations to our JROTC team and their instructors!

Band Marching Season

The band has had a great marching season so far. They recently received a 2 rating (above average) at the UIL marching contest and narrowly missed a 1 rating (superior). Want to see some of their show? Check out this video (YouTube) of one of their performances.
