Book Requests
Feel free to come in any
time to look for resources on any topic for which you need information. I am
also available to help you locate things and can get additional resources from
the other libraries with some advance notice. These requests can easily be made
by email. If you know of specific titles or subject areas for which we need to
purchase more resources, let me know as soon as possible. I take this into
consideration as I order throughout the year. Your opinion is VERY important to
me- if I don’t have the books you need, you might not use the library!
Requesting Class Sets
Determine availability of book in advance of incorporating it into lesson plan.
Verify that it is a title approved by the district as acceptable for teaching at
your level.
Step 1- Check your department’s collection of books for the title you want to
use and inventory how many copies are available to you. Inform the department
head when you are planning to use them. This should be written down in some form
for future reference.
Step 2- Check Ratteree/IC Collection on the OPAC. To reserve these, please
consult your librarian.
Step 3- If the title you are looking for is not available from your department,
or the Ratteree/IC, the next place to look is in other departments AT YOUR
SCHOOL. Go to the department head or have your department head speak to him/her.
Again, if what you need is available, have your “reservation” put in writing.
Step 4- If you have determined that the title is not available at your campus,
then the next step is checking with your subject area at other schools. This
contact needs to be made by your department head. Other departments at other
campuses?
Step 5- Not finding the title in any school book rooms, you then go to the
librarian. The librarian will follow inter-library loan procedures to obtain the
necessary copies so far as the resources allow. The librarian is NOT authorized
to purchase additional copies to supplement classroom needs.
