Automobile Safety Week:
-
Motor vehicle crashes are the
number one killer of teens in the U.S. with
nearly 6,000 teens killed every year and more
than 300,000 injured.
-
The deadliest days for teen
drivers are the 100 days between Memorial Day
and Labor Day.
-
Driver error and speeding are the
main causes of teen driving fatalities. Driver
error contributes to 87 percent of teen
accidents both fatal and non-fatal.
-
Simple activities such as talking
on a cell phone, texting, switching radio
stations or interacting with friends can
significantly impair a teen’s ability to react
quickly to changing traffic conditions.
-
When driving be sure to focus on
the road.
-
Any National Honor Society senior
member who is lacking the 10 hours of community
service specific for MacArthur/NHS service can come

requirement. If you, as an NHS senior member, are
lacking in any of these areas, please take care of
your obligation before May 15.
