Senior Breakfast
(Senior Parents)
The MacArthur High
School PTA is asking for your support of one
of our most important parent-sponsored
events, the 2008 MacArthur High School
Senior Breakfast. Each year, in a
time-honored tradition, the MacArthur PTA
honors the graduating Senior Class, prior to
the Annual Awards Assembly, with a Buffet
Breakfast at the Las Colinas Country Club.
This year, the 2008 Senior Breakfast will be
on May 30, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. |

MacArthur Choir Spring
The
MacArthur choir will be presenting their Spring Show entitled "MHX Where
Performance Meets Technology" on Thursday May 8, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the
MacArthur Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and kids/students
are free. |

Donations & Volunteers Wanted to Support Senior Class After-Prom Event
Dear Parents of Mac Seniors: The Senior Spectacular, After Prom
Event is coming soon on May 10. We still need to raise money to provide
prizes for our students. At this time, the event is paid for; however,
we now need prizes. These items must be provided through donations and
from the parents and students. |

Recycling
Drive
MacArthur High School is sponsoring a
recycling drive to raise funds.
Computers, cell phones, print cartridges,
toner cartridges, and more can be recycled
by bringing them to the school (room 121)
and the school will get the funds for the
materials. The drive runs through April 30.

Golf Tournament
The
MacArthur High School After Prom committee
will be hosting a benefit golf tournament on
Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Indian Creek
Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas. The
tournament will benefit the graduating
seniors of MacArthur High School by
providing a safe place to celebrate.
With your help, we can achieve our goal of
raising $18,000. Donations are accepted or
sign-up yourself or a team to play.

Technology Media Fair
Winners
MacArthur
High School students brought home 18 ribbons in 8 different categories
from the Irving ISD Technology Media Fair open house held on January 31.
Five students won first place awards.

Academic Decathlon 2008
Congratulations
to the MacArthur Academic
Decathlon team members.
They came in seventh in the
district competition held
January 18-19, 2008 at MacArthur
High School.
This is a significant
performance among tough
competition and they are already
gearing up for next year! |

After-Prom "Senior Spectacular" Update
(Class
of 2008 Parents)
As you know, The MacArthur “After-Prom”
committee is in full swing raising money for
this year’s After Prom event, the 2008
Senior Spectacular. This year’s event will
be held at Dallas Speed Zone on May 10, 2008
following the MacArthur HS Senior Prom.
The Senior Spectacular will include all the
activities that Speed Zone offers including
racing, video games, miniature golf, henna
tattoos, sketch artists, skeet ball,
billiards and more! A total of $15,000
to $20,000 must be raised to provide a fun
evening of celebration ... You can help by
volunteering for one (or more!) of the
following activities: |

This is Texas Public Schools Week,
and Monday, March 10th is open house here at MacArthur.
Parents are invited to come to the school from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. to visit
with teachers and staff.

stampers, crafters, quilters,
and painters are invited to join
us for the MacArthur
Scrapbookers Fair to be held on
March 1 in the MacArthur
cafeteria. Cost is $25.00
per person and proceeds will go
to the Class of 2008 After
Prom Festivities... |

Yearbook Ads Still Available
There are 18 full page yearbook ads left and
9 one-eighth page ads. If you are interested
in buying an ad, the prices are: $400 for a
full page, $200 for a half page, $100 for a
fourth of a page, and $50 for an eighth of a
page. But hurry because the deadline to buy
an ad is February 22. Also, yearbooks
are still on sale for $65 until the end of

An
open house for the district's Technology Media Fair will be held on
January 31 at Bowie Middle School to let parents and students come
view the entries in the 2007-2008 Technology Media Fair.
Winners of the twelve categories will be announced that evening ...

College Planning Meeting
There is a college
planning meeting at Irving High School on
Tuesday,
January 29 at 6:30 pm.
This meeting is for any 8th or 9th grade
student (and their parents) who want to get
a head start on planning for college.
There will also be a Spanish session. |

Summer Activity Fair
The
Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Birdville,
and Keller ISD are joining
together to sponsor a Summer
Activity Fair presenting summer
opportunities for elementary and
secondary students.
There will be over a dozen
different booths representing a
variety of educational and
artistic summer camps in the
area. Although the gifted and
talented associations sponsor
this event, MOST of the camps
are open to the general public.
Some of the camps offer
scholarships based upon
financial need. |
