Tuesday, June 3, 2008

  • Effective immediately:  No 18-year-old will be allowed to sign themselves out of school unless the parent or legal guardian signs for them or the student brings a note from that parent and we are able to contact the parent to verify that the note is authentic. This will be in effect from today and especially for the next school year. 

  • The back table of the cafeteria contains lost and found items. Friday whatever is left will be donated to charity.

  • Books/Textbooks/Fees & Charges

    • Students:  return your textbooks to the professional library 7:30-8:15 any morning through June 3 or during A or B lunches. All should be returned by June 5. And teachers must have your teacher editions returned by June 6.

    • Please return books and magazines to the library before school is out.  There are no fines so all you have to do is bring them in.   Lost books do need to be paid for. 

    • For summer school enrollment students need to be clear with textbooks, technology fees and charges, library overdues and lost books, and other outstanding charges.

  • Jump start your college education by going to North Lake College, June 12, 6:00-8:00 p.m. to pick up a registration packet.  Call 972-273-3041 or go to www.northlakecollege.edu for more information.

  • All students taking the SAT, June 7 and/or the ACT, June 14 will park in the student parking lot and use the south entrance to the building. Testing will be in the 180s.

  • Seniors!  KMAC is putting together a senior DVD highlighting sports, senior events and interviews, shattered dreams, and much more.  See a KMAC member or come by room 255 to place your order for just $10. 

  • Graduation rehearsal is Thursday at 1:00 in the auditorium.  Immediately after, caps and gowns will be given out in the cafeteria. 

  • A new owner has bought the Food Mart complex across the street and is very serious about enforcing the no loitering rule.  The police will be forced to write tickets to anyone that continues to loiter.

No one will be allowed to pick up books for another person. There are still a few extras. You can purchase them for $85 before school or after school in room 190.

  • The cross country program is looking for one or two managers to help with the upcoming season when school begins in August. If you are interested in becoming a manager or would like more information, please see Coach Alonzo in Portable 11 before or after school this week.

  • Lt. Col. Whisennand is still taking applications for membership in the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary of the United States Air Force. If you are interested in joining, visit our meeting this Thursday in the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. During the summer we are going to meet off campus and the meetings will be at a later time.
