Metro PCS –
for students that have demonstrated exceptional
involvement in volunteerism and community service, in
addition to academics and other criteria. Applications

TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards –
for entrepreneurial students that run their own business
(from lawn care, to jewelry, to eBay auctioneers). For
information and applications, go online to

“HAZ LA U” –
short essay contest from the Hispanic Heritage
Foundation and Colgate-Palmolive Company. Students can
log onto
www.colgate.com/hazlau and answer the question: How
do you think education can impact the Heritage of
Hispanic generations to come? Deadline: 11/30/09.
The Josie Washington Memorial Scholarship –
for a senior who has contributed
outstanding service to the community. Applications are

Fairrilla E. White Scholarship –
an academic-based scholarship for female seniors.

Achievement Scholarship –

John F. Kennedy, Profile in Courage Essay Contest
–

Gates Millennium Scholars -
must be African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native,
Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, be
a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the
U.S., have a GPA of 3.3 or higher on an unweighted 4.0
scale, plan to enter college in fall of 2010, meet
financial aid guidelines for the Pell Grant, and have
demonstrated leadership abilities through participation
in community service, extracurricular, or other
activities that reflect leadership abilities; must be
nominated and recommended; see your counselor for
further information or go to

American Welding Society’s
Edward J. Brady Memorial Scholarship –

Educational Conference Scholarship

Texas Student Housing Scholarship –
for students that will be attending college in Austin,
College Station or Denton, Texas. You must live in
their selected apartment complex and they pay part of
the rent. Looking for academic and leadership
excellence. (Remember – some schools do not let
freshmen live off campus.) Applications are in the
Counseling Office. Deadline: 1/31/10.
